    Countercultures are subcultures in a society that do not conform and adhere to mainstream norms, beliefs or practices. Members of countercultures are commonly critical of and reject mainstream norms and values. In today's society, hipsters can be considered as members of countercultures since they do not conform to mainstream norms in terms of their fashion, food, music preferences and lifestyles.
