Which term refers to the character of the person making an argument?

There are a set of persuasion tools that come into play here. Ethos for ethical/character, Logos for the logical and Pathos for emotional. In this instance, we're looking at the ethical or character reference. The exact term is Ad hominem where the person attacks the other persons character rather than debating the argument at hand.
