The development in education in the southern states of Nigeria, likened with the relative interval in the northern states, imitates the influence of Christian missions to the Nigerian educational system. Teacher-training colleges are ran by missions or voluntary societies; their schools, on the other hand, are controlled and largely supported by the government. Generally the detailed establishment of education in Nigeria was based on ancient faith, where laws are grasped and learnt by heart. Nigeria being destabilized by various political and generally economic challenges, majorly flashed into life in education when missionaries came into the nation. The Roman Catholic was a chief in this case, where through the extent of faith brought reading and writing to life. The necessity to be able to narrate something, recite the scriptures and the likes were chief driving force to education, commonly in the Roman Empire.
