The psychologist will tell them that there is little or no evidence to suggest that parents affect the sexual orientation of their children.

So, regardless of the sexual preference of the parent, the child will develop his or her sexual orientation on his or her own. If the parents are gay, lesbian, or straight, it doesn't really matter for the child - sexual orientation is something that develops over time and is unaffected by people around that person.
