    Answer: The closing of the frontier changed our country. created new booming cities as well as posing many ecological problems. Although not many actually moved to the west, heavy farming machinery became more expensive for farmers, leading to failure. Also the west invited over many farming immigrants who otherwise would've clogged the slums and job markets, but instead raised some of the factory wages at just the possibility of westward expansion. the west is where we've fled to since the day of Columbus and where our native and Mexican cultures collided.
