Carlos Baena, considered a top Pixar animator, wanted to make sure he had done his research before animating. After the layout team gives him the shot, he does three things before starting:

A) Filmed reference of himself with any necessary props.

B) Searched for outside live acting reference for inspiration

C) Created thumbnail drawings of the character's poses.

    Explanation:

    He is an animator so it would make sense he would raw instead of look at props, and he may look for "reference for inspiration" but it says "live acting" and he is an animator. So drawing thumbnails would be the most logical choice.
