In the center of town, there is a square park with side length of 30 ft. If a person walks from one corner of the park to the opposite corner, how far does the person walk? Round to the nearest foot.

    Answer: 42 feet

    Explanation:

    Given that the side length of the square is 30ft, all other sides is 30ft.

    The person would have worked across along one of the diagonal of the square. Hence we apply Pythagoras theorem

    D^2 = 30² + 30² = 900 + 900

    D = √900 (2) = 30√2

    D = 42.43

    D = 42 (approximately to the nearest ft)
