List 3 differences between the ancient Greek polis of Athens and Sparta.

    Sparta was ruled by two kings, who ruled until they died or were forced out of office. Athens was ruled by archons, who were elected annually. Thus, because both parts of Athens' government had leaders who were elected, Athens is said to have been the birthplace of democracy. Spartan life was simple.

    2. Women have little to no rights in ancient Athens while the women in Sparta have rights like owing property, being able to do business, etc.

    3. Athens greatly focuses on education such as arts, philosophy, science, math etc. while Sparta focuses to strengthen their army
