Explain what an example the putting out system

Putting out system means domestic system. For e. g. a merchant can supply raw materials suppose cotton to women and girls of a house then after processing they will make cloth from cotton and will handover it to the merchant. This is called putting out system.

Explanation:

Putting out system was widespread in Western Europe during 17th century. In rural area it was more effective in domestic households where ladies or female members of the family take raw materials from merchants and produce finished product from it and hand over it to the merchant and earn money.

The merchant takes orders from his customers. He distributes work among the weavers and instructs them to make a cloth as per demand or desire of buyer. Sometime there is an agent in between merchant and weaver who go to the village and count the willing weavers head and distribute work among them and collect finished product from them.
