Why do the DRC and Congo share a currency

    The two major metropolitan cities of Kinshasa and Brazzaville are on opposite sides of the Congo River. After taking over he changed the name of the country from the Congo to Zaire. He also pushed for more "African-ness" rejecting aspects of colonial European culture.
