    He was a kind person and was definitely a loving father. When his son, Louis-Joseph, died at the age of 7 (because of tuberculosis), Louis XVI was devastated. On the very day he learned his tragical loss, he had to perform his duties as a king. The members of the Etats Généraux required him to take some difficult decisions about French policy. After several minutes, Louis collapsed and sobbed : "For God's sake ... Is there no father in this room?"
