Neutron capture produces elements heavier than iron in a star.

    Explanation:

When the big massive explosions occurred in huge and massive stars, they are super densed in the production of heavy elements, because the neutron stars came in contact of energy with the oxygen and other conditions are also responsible for it.

According to some scientists Supernova theory also plays a vital role in this formation of heavy elements. The star burns helium to form heavier elements like carbon and oxygen until "iron and nickel" formation after the exhaustion of hydrogen in the star core's. The energy is released upto the formation of "iron and nickel" which requires some input energy.
