Who selects the electors to represent each state in the Electoral College?

Answer: Out of 538 electors mainly 270 electoral votes are needed to elect president. Your state's amount equals the amount of one for each member in the House of Representatives plus two for your Senators.

Electors are selected on a state-by-state basis, as determined by the laws of each state. First, the political parties in each state choose slates of potential Electors sometime before the general election. Second, on Election Day, the voters in each state select their state's Electors by casting their ballots for President.
