Drug use in the gay community is unrelated to prejudice, homophobia, fear of coming out and being oneself. Therefore prevention and treatment do not need to address these issues.

    The use of drugs causes a great mental imbalance, when done frequently. These imbalances can generate many psychological problems, especially in people who suffer social isolation and do not feel (or really are not) accepted in society as they are, as is the case with people present in the LGBT + community.

    In this case, the use of drugs by these people can have a direct, strong and influential relationship with prejudice, homophobia, fear of going out and being yourself. Therefore, it should be considered in any evaluation, prevention and treatment of a possible psychological disorder.
