In peas, round seeds and purple flowers are dominant. If I cross a plant that has wrinkled seeds and white flowers to a plant that is homozygous for round seeds and heterozygous for purple flower traits, what fraction of the offspring will have wrinkled seeds and purple flowers?

    Answer: About 25%

    Explanation: According to gregor Mendel's inheritance theory, when mixing two peas, a character or variation of one of them - what is known as allele - did not appear in the next generation. In addition, crossing those hybrids resulting in the first generation, that is, the descendants, confirmed that the aforementioned character reappeared. Thus, the new daughter plants showed a regular distribution: the fourth part inherited the characteristic of the pure variety that had acted as "grandmother"; the other quarter, that of the "grandfather" plant, and half acquired the common characteristic of "parents".
