Legitimate Power

Legitimate power is power that you obtain from your official position or office in the structure of authority of the organization.

For instance, a company's president will have certain authority because of his company's position. As with most authority, it is based on perception and reality that legitimate power.

It is based on the truth that in an organization an individual holds a specific position. It is also focused on an employee's belief that someone holding the position has the ability to exercise control over her.
