Answer: Treaty of Paris (1763) ended an American part of Seven Years War (this North-American part of the war is known in the North America as "French and Indian War"). This treaty formally ended the conflict in favour of Britain which initiated its dominant role in the North America. Britain and France each returned territories they captured during the conflict but France had to leave its territories in the North America (La Nouvelle France).

Explanation: French territories in the North America before 1763 were scarcely populated and its core represented territory along St. Lawrence river (between Quebec City and Montreal). English conquered Quebec city in 1759 and Montreal in 1760.
