    3. A war against Britain

    Explanation:

Spain justified her claim to land in the New World through cultural superiority, zeal, decree from the pope and violence except for the war against Britain. Spain defeated the Britain in the year 1588 and this does not justify their claim to land in the New World. One of the main reasons for this is that Spain had already founded Isabela during the 1490s which was a Spanish settlement in Hispaniola which is known as the New World. By the time the British War happened in 1588, Spain had already spread far and wide to Puerto Rico, Jamaica and Cuba in search of gold and resources. Hence, they had already claimed the land of the New World by that time.
