It was the first time that the British army attempted to capture the American army and discourage the pursuit of independence through battles. In that battle there was a successful British siege resulting in the first decisive victory for the Americans that added strength to the Declaration of Independence.

During this period there was an increase in the confidence of the South Carolinians in the state government and the postponement of British efforts to take Charles Town for three years.

From what I see and from that description that sounds like the revolutionary war. That was when we departed from Great Britain and come to the U. S. A and eventually fought the Britain's because they didn't want us to have freedom but we did and beat the Britain's in the revolutionary war.
