Stimulants and depressants work opposite to each other

    Explanation:

Stimulants and depressants work opposite to each other. While stimulants enhance the body processes, depressant allows down the body processes. Some common depressants are tranquilizers, sedatives etc. Neurotransmitter GABA is affected by the depressants and may leads to anxiety and insomnia

Intake of both stimulants and depressants produces side effects, have risk associated with the overdose and also causes withdrawal side effects. Alcohol affects the consciousness by delaying or slowing down the processes. In severe cases or in case of overdose may cause emotional imbalance and loss of consciousness.
