Answer: The Yuan Dynasty was founded by Kublai Khan, leader of a large Mongol clan who invaded China, but adopted many Chinese customs and practices.

The Yuan Dynasty was the dominant dynasty of China and Mongolia and a khanate of the Mongol Empire.

Genghis Khan and his successors expanded the Mongol empire across Asia, eventually conquering northern China.

Möngke Khan began a military campaign against the Chinese Song Dynasty in southern China, during which Kublai Khan came to power and assumed the title of Great Khan.

The instability, including the civil war with the Mongol clans and the continued struggle with the Song, disturbed the early years of Kublai Khan's reign.

In 1272, Kublai Khan founded the Yuan Dynasty in the style of a traditional Chinese dynasty.
