Both the Delhi Sultanate and the Song empire were the first empire in nearly a millennium to be as expansive as they were.

    Explanation:

The Sultanate brought Islamic rule to the country and unified most of India under its rule.

This changed the demographics of the country and the connectivity of the empire ensured that a common culture that resulted from the interaction with invaders sprang up.

The Song Chinese finally unified China under one rule after the ten kingdom period when China broke into various warring states.

They imposed a policy of cultural assimilation which made China much more unified that it had been for a long time.
