    B. A Nation of loners

    Explanation:

Tocqueville was french historian, diplomat and political scientist. He is famous for his works The Old Regime and The Revolution, Democracy in America. Democracy in America is a work of political science an sociology, it was published after his travels in the US.

He commented that American jury system played an important role in educating citizens about rule of law and self government. He also wrote that how the civil jury system was important display of democracy as it connected the citizens with the true spirit of justice.

He repeatedly argues that democratic equality loosens the bonds between people that exist in aristocracies. Because in aristocracies everybody is linked in one long chain, while democracy breaks it.

With the spread of social equality people stop depending on others and cultivate the habit of thinking of themselves in isolation and considering the destiny to be in their hands. While in aristocracies they are always involved in something and tend to forget about themselves.

He considers individualism as misguided judgement and US a nation of loners. He considers it dangerous because isolated people forget about the welfare of others and finally unable to unite together to prevent tyranny.
