Why might the government of Japan be considered less democratic than the government of the United States?

    Although Japan has a higher level of participation in politics than the United States, the rate at which people contests for power is very low when compared to the United States. This could be due to the unfavourable age of eligibility to run for offices which does not favour the young people. Also the avenues available for young Japanese to contest for power are technically closed
