Personality tests have become popular in a variety of different industries. These are particularly common when it comes to staffing. Many companies believe that personality tests provide an invaluable insight into the mind of potential employees. However, this can have both advantages and disadvantages.

When it comes to advantages, personality tests can be useful because they provide information on a person that might be impossible to obtain otherwise. Moreover, it is very difficult, if not impossible, for a person to answer such tests in a way that does not reveal such details. On the other hand, such tests are not 100% accurate, which means that an employee runs the risk of being misrepresented by it. Also, an employee who scores badly on such a test might still bring benefits to a company in ways that might not be reflected in the test.
