Read the quotation from "Song of Myself." You will hardly know who I am or what I mean, But I shall be good health to you nevertheless, And filter and fiber your blood."

Why does Whitman use such a simple phrase as "who I am or what I mean" format?

    B. He wants to communicate directly with readers.

    Explanation:

He wanted the readers to have a way of knowing that he cares for them and that he is in gratitude with them.

His poems usually talked about transcendentalism and/or philosophy and he always found a way of including both movements in his poems, so he talking directly to the readers meant that he wanted to let the readers know the he loves what he does.
