    Explanation: Instrumental roles refer to provision of the necessary physical resources such as shelter, food and clothes; managing the whole family and making decisions concerning the family or the family structure or the family wellbeing.

    For example a father or a mother works to ensure monthly bills are paid, school clothes for the kids are bought.

    Affective role refer to emotional support that one receives from being part of a family, encouragement of each member to do better in what they get involved in.
