Most home insurance policies cover jewelry for $1,000 and silverware for $2,500 unless items are covered with additional insurance. If $4,600 worth of jewelry and $5,900 worth of silverware were stolen from a family, what amount of the claim would not be covered by insurance?

    Answer: $7000 not covered. Technically, with insurance there is a deductible to meet, but for this example guess not.

    Explanation:

    Only 1000 worth of jewelry, so $3600 not covered

    Only 2500 silverware covered, so that left $3400 not covered

    Total $7000
