Born in the Quaker family, Elizabeth worked for the enfranchisement rights of women. She also protested against slavery and collected anti-slavery supplications at the time of her early adolescence. She along with her counterpart Elizabeth Cady Stanton worked for the women reforms.

She also was the organizer of a team that worked for abolition of slavery and women suffrage rights. She also published an editorial and journalistic broadsheet which highlighted the importance of women being granted equal rights.
