Deposition refers to a method of acquiring information needed for trial from a party or witness through questioning, and taking of sworn, out-of-court oral testimony. This involves an out-of-court process by which the lawyers of both parties gather information from an individual or witness to be deposed also called the deponent in the company of attorneys for all parties involved, and a person qualified to administer oaths that will be useful for litigation.
