The Constitution ratified by all 13 states, the delegates to the Constitutional Convention had to reach several compromises. The three major compromises were the Great Compromise, the Three-Fifths Compromise, and the Electoral College.

In order for the new Constitution to be adopted in the United States, several compromises needed to be reached. The first major compromise was the inclusion of a Bill of Rights. This was a demand of the anti-Federalists. Another important compromise was the Three-Fifths Compromise, which clarified the role of slaves when it came to considering them as "population" for the purposes of representation. Eventually, the Constitution was ratified in 1788.
