This observational study observes a group of people who share similarities or similar characteristics, following them over an extended period. Data collection is taken from the outset and get repeated over the length of time in this way researchers are able to see how variables change over time.

Like studying how exercise affect a group of people all over the age of 45 to 50 and observing them over a period of a year this would be a Longitudinal study.
