    Answer: myths of origin are crucial for maintaining social order. Society needs it - even in secular societies. Ancient peoples used myths as a way how to understand a world, universe, society. Myths of origin were necessary for the order of things. In Babylonian case as well ... many of these myths were of Akkadian and Sumerian origin.
