In addition to factors related to each person's immune system, tuberculosis disease is often linked to poverty and poor income distribution. Thus, some population groups are more vulnerable due to health and life conditions to which they are exposed.

Social vulnerability is the concept that characterizes the condition of groups of individuals that are on the fringes of society, that is, people or families that are in the process of social exclusion, mainly due to socioeconomic factors.
