The fundamental difference of attitude between the French and the English concerning land was that while the French sought primarily to profit off of the land, the English sought to settle the land.

French traded with northern native americans and profited more off the land. Some settled but for the part they were in Canada to make money.

British wanted to settle. That's why they were more volatile and violent when in contact with natives. They wanted to own the land.
