In the Allegory, the freed prisoner is actually blinded when he leaves the cave, and again when he returns to it. Tell why he is actually blindedin each caseinthe story, and then explain what his blindness in each case means on adeeper, symbolic (not literal) level. a) Actual blindness when he leaves the cave - He is blinded because of the brightness of the sun when he comes out. b) What this blindness symbolizes - this blindness symbolizes adjustment to the new reality, it takes him time to realize what he is actually seeing.
