    When we look at the political changes that are a direct consequence of the civil war, we can think first of all mention that a large number of slaves after the war were granted voting rights and equal citizenship.     There have also been some changes in the economic field. The war has weakened both sides economically, but much more radical changes have taken place in the south whose economy has been destroyed. The battle, therefore, shattered the economy of the south but "opened the door" to transforming America into a modern capitalist society.
