Many students change their major after a while in college. This could be because of a change in interest or a want to switch from a general major to a more specific one.

However, different majors have different requirements. This could increase the time of study if the student has to start again as the completed courses may not be similar to those of the new major.

Changing a major may also could attract a change in academic adviser.
