Answer; Parents engage in a delicate balancing act

Explanation: The life of a teenager seems to change daily. Before their teenage years, these adolescents focused on school, play, and always want to gain approval from their parents. But now, those goals are replaced with a desire for independence, as teenagers work toward becoming young adults. Parents on the other hand wants to always stand in the place of authority, wanting their children to always seek permissions from them like before.

At this stage however, parents and their teenage sons and daughters tends to have a whole lots of misunderstandings as both parties are finding it difficult to cope. Parents therefore are in a delicate position. They want to balance the position of authority with being friends with them.
