    weak analogy

    Explanation:

Weak analogy refers to drawing comparison between two situations, things or concepts to link them into an argument although the connection between them remains fragile. When a person uses a weak analogy it can damage an argument. For example, if a person uses an example of mango and banana to argue that they taste the same, on the basis of that they are both fruits and a similar color.

As per the question comparing children and tress to explain the concept of corporal punishment is another example of weak analogy.
