The response variable I would use would be weight of the rice after it has been completely cooked. Studies have shown that when different types of rice are cooked, they absorb the water and ingredients in which they are being cooked, and they end up having different weights after being completely cooked. In this regard, the appropriate response variable would be the final weight of the rice after complete cooking; this weight can be compared with the initial weight of rice before cooking.
