    Explanation:

    The labeling theory suggests that the self identification of individuals may be heavily influenced by their classification, their labels. When teenagers enter the system as people in trouble with the law, that label will be a burden for them in later stages of life and, among other classifications they may recieve for it, will create a stigma hard to negate that will change their self concept and will push them into darker paths.
