    The caste system in India is structured as a class division that determines a person's status, job prospects, and education prospects.

    It results in great social inequality because the system literally prevents the lower caste people from enjoying social mobility by only allowing them to take the lowest-paid jobs. Meanwhile, those belonging to the high castes, have the highest-paid jobs reserved to them.
