What class differences existed in colonial society

    Colonial society in America started in 1492 and finished in 1776. There were three social classes: The gentry. They were the rich people. They lived in mansions and had carriages. The could vote. They wore clothes brought from London. Most of them had a library inside their houses. Then, there was the middle class. They worked at skilled jobs or they were teachers. They had houses but there were not as expensive as the ones of the rich. The carts and horses but not carriages. Their clothes were not so expensive. Then there was the poor class. They lived doing minor jobs. Some of them lived from charity.
