The idea behind maslow's hierarchy of needs is that:

you can predict what a persons next need will be by referring to the maslows hierarchy.

people with disabilities will remain on the lowest level of maslows pyramid.

people with greater intelligence have more complex and abstract needs than others.

if a persons basic needs are not met, that person will find it much harder to fill their higher needs (love, respect).
