How did the battle of bull run reflect the beginnings of a broad pattern of leadership in the North and the South?

This first Manassas as it is called in the south. It was fought on July, 21st.,1861. It significance is that its marks the first main battle of the civil war, which gives birth to confederate. About 3000 thousand causalities were recorded,

Its reflection on the North is that their expected easy, and decisive win over the south, was distraught ed by the unexpected resistance of the South, while left them reeled.

While the Souths from the unexpected outcome of the war were given a fond illusion that it was possible for them to pull out a surprising and resounding victory, and therefore this serve as a boost of confidence.

The war was fought along a small river called Bull run. The war took the North by surprise and they fled back to Washington. The South had false hope of being able to finish off the South very fast in the war. 3,000 Union from the North and 1,750 Confederates were among the casualties.

The leadership of the North became more troubled than the South due to the surprise attack and started faltering by using much more complex techniques instead of easier and simpler executable strategies.
