    Eisaku Sato was the Prime Minister of Japan from 1964 to 1972. Sato was the first Asian man to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, in 1974. He was awarded due to his efforts to advance regional reconciliation as well as for renouncing the use of nuclear weapons, signing the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, known as the Non-Proliferation Treaty or NPT. He died in 1975, age 74.
