Psychological hardiness is a personality trait seen in people that are able to handle stressful situations very well. This trait structure consists of commitment, challenge, and control - nicknamed the three C's.

In commitment, the person is able to do the best they can, and see problems as a minor setback. People with psychological hardiness see problems as challenges, and accept challenges instead of becoming defensive, and with control, they focus on what they can do instead of feeling powerless.
