Portugal and Spain were the first countries to start searching for a sea route to India. On May 20, 1498, the Portuguese ships commanded by Vasco da Gamah, sent by King Manoe-Lem, reached the shores of India. With the discovery of the sea route to India, Portugal gained priority in the European market and began to master the entire maritime trade of South and East Asia. So it is called The Sea Route to Asia.
