Habeas Corpus is a recourse in law in which a person can report an unlawful detention or imprisonment to a court and can request a prision official to bring the prisoner to court, to determine wether the detention was lawful. Habeas Corpus translates roughly "to have the body". It is used to secure the prisoner's release unless a lawful reason for his detention is shown in court.
